I was reading about the new Deadpool movie, and was irritated by that the movie listed participating actors.
" So far the list on that includes - deep breadth - Russell Crowe, Pierce Brosnan, Ron Perlman, Stephen Lang, Michael Shannon and Stranger Things star David Harbour"
All male.
So... Deadpool is based on a comic and "only 26.7 percent of all DC and Marvel characters are female, and only 12 percent of mainstream superhero comics have female protagonists." There AREN'T any roles for women! BUT - there are a LOT of actors in a movie. There is nothing that says that not ALL tertiary speaking roles could go to women, even when the movie is based on something with mostly main characters, like a comic book. See Inclusion Rider.
So, I am interested in this, and I can think of others who are also interested, so here's a blog where I am going to post about this, and other feministic movie evaluation methods and "tests". Which is why this blog is called Bechdel and Inclusion Rider.
